Semipermeable Membrane is an array of 5 rows of 4 peepholes stacked one on top of another, totalling a grid of 20 peepholes in the wall within the public hallway at Equinox Studios.
Five steel ladders stretch from floor to ceiling accompanying each row and invite visitors to climb and voyeur in through the wall.
The mixed media installations behind the peepholes correlate from floor to ceiling and build on 4 life milestones-
We, ourselves, are time-based kinetic forms. As we grow, we are constantly changing, refining and altering our perceptions of how we see ourselves and the world around us.
This piece takes a giant stride alongside one of my on-going and lifelong bodies of work named Series of Holes.
This installation was made possible in close collaboration with-
